Hi, my name is Dr.Nila Patel, and one of the frequently asked questions that I get asked is, "Why do I need to floss?" Flossing is one of the most paramount things that we can do for ourselves to take care of our health. Not just our dental health, but our actual overall health.
It is one of the easiest ways, and cheapest ways, that each person can help to maintain their dental health. As we know, there's a lot of bacteria that is very harmful in the mouth, that likes to actually congregate around the edges of the tooth and the gum. And after we eat, there's a lot of plaque that is built up on those teeth, and this is what those bacteria feed off of.
They're actually inside an encased environment in there, a biofilm. And flossing with un-waxed floss truly helps to break up that plaque and get rid of that bacteria, which is better for your overall health, as well as for your dental health.
